Honoring Our Heritage, Building a Stronger Tomorrow

Vote for Kyle Kulow April 1, 2025 for Town of Lake Mills, Town Chair
Hi, I'm Kyle Kulow, and I'm asking for your vote to become the next Town Chair of Lake Mills on April 1, 2025. With deep roots in this community - my family has lived here for four generations - I'm committed to working tirelessly to ensure that our town remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
As a proud 1998 graduate of Lake Mills High School, I've always been committed to giving back to my community. During my time at LMHS, I was actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including the National Honor Society and Varsity Athletics. These experiences not only helped shape my character, but also instilled in me a sense of responsibility and a desire to make a positive impact on my community. Today, I continue to stay involved in the community by coaching youth sports and volunteering as the announcer for varsity sports at Lake Mills High School. It's a privilege to be able to give back to the community that has given me so much, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our young people.
As a seasoned entrepreneur and industry expert, I've spent over 25 years driving innovation and growth in the fiber optics communications industry. From the early days of physically building fiber optic networks in the Chicagoland area to leading complex projects as a project manager, I've developed a passion for solving complex problems and delivering results for my customers. Today, as a business owner, I'm dedicated to connecting people with the resources they need to succeed. Whether it's helping small businesses scale or supporting large enterprises with their communications infrastructure, I thrive on finding creative solutions that drive growth and success.
As an outdoors enthusiast, I'm fortunate to have grown up in a town that offers endless opportunities to connect with nature. Whether I'm hunting, fishing, or simply spending time with loved ones on the lake, I find that being in the great outdoors is the perfect way to recharge and refocus. There's something special about immersing myself in the natural beauty of Lake Mills - it's a feeling that's hard to find anywhere else. For me, it's not just about enjoying the outdoors, it's about being a part of the community that makes this town so special.
My roots in Lake Mills run deep. As a fourth-generation Kulow, I'm proud to say that my family has been a part of this community for over a century. My ancestors immigrated to the Kroghville and Lake Mills area from Germany in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and my parents, brothers, and numerous relatives and cousins have all called Lake Mills home. I've had the privilege of growing up in this wonderful community, and I've been fortunate enough to raise my own family here. My wife, my high school sweetheart of 23 years, and I have three beautiful daughters, two of whom have already graduated from Lake Mills High School, and one who will soon follow in their footsteps
Our town's infrastructure is a significant investment, with 38 miles of roadway that require regular maintenance and upkeep. This includes roads, ditches, culverts, and signage, which collectively account for a substantial portion of our annual budget and are critical for the safety and functionality of our community. Finding funds at the state and county level as well as collaborating projects locally will help our budget needs to do more.
Although the previous proposal was not successful, we cannot ignore the need for a new or renovated building that can provide the necessary space and amenities for our town's residents and visitors. We need to look at a new hall as a gathering place not only for voting but also for our community. More importantly it shouldn't break the bank.
With the ever changing political landscapes between Jefferson County, City of Lake Mills and the surrounding townships, the Town of Lake Mills needs to continue to develop relationships with existing friends as well as making new friends with these agencies. We will be losing many years of experience, knowledge and leadership with the retiring board members. This could help with collaborative projects and or cost sharing with equipment and/or materials for our town.
There have been talks about forming a Lake District for homeowners with deeded access to Rock Lake, starting with riparian access. This could lead to additional taxes for those within the district to support lake-related initiatives and projects. Our community does not need additional bureaucracy or governing body, especially if it effects policy for others.
The ongoing debate surrounding the use of wake-enhancing technology on Rock Lake is a complex issue, with concerns about safety, liability, and enforcement. As we navigate this issue, we must carefully consider the competing interests of wake-enhancing boats, boaters, and lake residents, and develop a plan that is effective, enforceable, and fair to all stakeholders. Our own research is key to finding whats best for everyone and not a broad stroke based on others research.
